Simplified Puts it All Together - Company Business and Marketing
Jim BartholdAustin, Texas software Simplified Telesys Inc. has a package that uses the high-speed cable network to offer subscriber-pleasing upgrades via the Web.
"A customer can come in over the cable modem and actually order and provision and do their own customer self-care over the Web," said CEO James Cashiola.
If customers want second line telephony, Simplicity's software lets operators use traditional circuit switched networks rather than untested Internet Protocol (IP).
"Simplified really insulates our customers from the differences between whether they have to make a choice from IP or next-generation services or will they be able to use some of their existing infrastructure," he explained.
The cable operator "came to us to do the software and to put it in and then we're participating in a revenue share," Cashiola explained.
The software makes it worthwhile for cable operators to serve as their own ISPs.
"For obvious reasons they want to own their customer," he explained. "They've invested in their infrastructure and are ready to do that. We put in the application that enables this cable company to provision services over the Web, invoice customers over the Web."
