Kylie steps out and puts success back on the menu
ANDREW JOHNSONKYLIE MINOGUE celebrated her return to the spotlight last night by dancing the night away with the help of three chorus girls at a Knightsbridge restaurant.
The former soap star's singing career hit the doldrums after her last album sank without trace and she was dumped by her record company DeConstruction.
However, showing a comeback talent on a par with Bill Clinton, the diminutive starlet bounced back with a number one single, Spinning Around, and is now at No 2 in the charts with On A Night Like This.
Record executives and celebrities, including Big Brother host Davina McCall, singer Natalie Imbruglia - who also started her career in the Australian soap Neighbours - and Kylie's dress designer Julien MacDonald, were among the crowd at the restaurant, Isola, to celebrate the launch of her new album, Light Years.
Both Kylie, 32, and new record company Parlaphone, hope the new album, which includes two songs written by Robbie Williams, repeats her early success when a string of hits, including I Should Be So Lucky and The Locomotion, contributed to album sales topping 30 million.
It is reported that her last album shifted only 47,000 copies.
Kylie arrived last night without boyfriend James Gooding, 25, but was kept company by the dancing girls who later joined her on the restaurant's tables.
