Wright probe finished

RETIRED Canadian judge Peter Cory is set to conclude his inquiries into the murder of LVF leader Billy Wright this week.

Although the Wright case involved a huge volume of documents, Judge Cory and his team of investigators have made steady progress over the past two months.

He is now ready to finish his report into allegations of State collusion in the murder of the slain LVF boss on schedule.

As part of their investigations into the killing, Judge Cory and his team visited the Maze prison to see at first hand the area of H Block 6.

While inside H6, Judge Cory saw for himself the view from the watch- tower overlooking the murder on H6.

He also visited the block's canteen area where Wright's killers claim to have watched him enter a prison van before launching their attack.

Judge Cory was also given access to MI5 and Special Branch files on Billy Wright as well as details of the police probe into the murder.

Judge Cory's report on the Wright killing will now be filed with the Canadian High Commissioner.

It will kept at a secure location along with other reports into the murders of Belfast solicitor, Pat Finucane and Portadown man Robert Hamill.

The judge is due to conclude his investigations in October when the reports will be published.
