YOUR SAY: Put fire safety first
T SmithI WAS horrified to read that Fatima National School in Drogheda is a fire hazard.
It is unacceptable for the Government to put children into a building that has no fire alarms or inadequate escape routes.
If there was a fire many young lives would be lost - and all because the Government refuses to give schools proper funding.
Education is a basic human right but so is safety. These children are being put at risk by the Government not providing them with basic safety necessities.
It is unbelievable to think that in this day and age children are in a school that is not up to basic safety standards.
One wonders how many schools are in a similar state - and how many other children are at risk.
Will the Government stand back and do nothing until it is too late and a tragedy happens?
