PRINCE Edward's wife Sophie Wessex has been trying for a year to have a test-tube baby.

The treatment comes after years of anguish for Sophie who has been desperate to start a family and nearly died through an ectopic pregnancy in 2001.

Tearful Sophie and Edward recently began what is thought to be their third round of IVF treatment.

Edward is now said to be closer than ever to his 38-year-old wife.
