Why do convicted paedophile priests seem to get preferential treatment from the authorities.

If stories are to be believed, the Church shields them by moving them from parish to parish or to 'other duties'.

When they are caught they rarely have to serve out the full terms of their sentence and they are often spirited away from jail early to avoid running the gauntlet of irate victims or the glare of publicity.

And, if they are truly Christians, why do they not face their victims, apologise, and ask forgiveness?
