Conference puts world at HR pros' fingertips
Beth McConnellAt the 28th Annual Conference and Exposition of the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Global Forum, scheduled for April 11-13 in Chicago, HR professionals can prepare themselves and their organizations to face the changing global workplace environment.

Fons Trompenaars, international management consultant, will give the keynote speech April 11. He has consulted for companies including Shell, BP, Philips, IBM, Heineken, Applied Materials and many others.
Shoshana Zuboff, who will give the keynote presentation on April 12, is a professor of business administration at the Harvard Business School. Zuboff "talks about keeping your business in the forefront of technology and trends," said SHRM Manager of Education Nancy Woolever, SPHR.
Henry Kissinger will speak at the closing general session on April 13. Secretary of State under Presidents Nixon and Ford, he also was national security adviser for six years. He won the Nobel Peace Prize for his work as a negotiator of the withdrawal of American forces from Vietnam.
During the conference, SHRM, in coordination with the Wharton School, is presenting the Strategic Decision-Making and Human Resources Certificate Program. Nearly all spots are filled for this session, but the certificate program also will be offered at SHRM's 57th Annual Conference and Exposition, to be held June 19-22 in San Diego.
The conference sessions will explore doing business in countries such as China and India, total compensation and benefits, privacy in the international arena, safety issues, mergers and acquisitions, and ethics.
