- Clay Street Baptist Ministries will sponsor a women's conference from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. today at First United Methodist Church, 600 S.W. Topeka Blvd.

FAIR ACTIVITIES
- Auburn Christian Church will sponsor a variety of activities in conjunction with the 90th annual Auburn Grange Fair from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m today in Auburn.
Women from the church will have a kids cookie decorating booth from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds benefit the Circle of Faith group's Kitchen Mission project.
At 11 a.m., the Blue Grass Band will entertain fairgoers with country-gospel music. The church's worship team will perform at noon. From 1 to 2 p.m., VeggieTales characters will greet children.
In the 2 p.m. parade, children in the church's Awana program will have a float. Following the parade, there will be drawings for videos, compact discs, T-shirts and other items donated by Topeka merchants.
Also, a concert by the group Awake! Awake! will begin at 4 p.m. Activities will take place south of the ball diamonds, near 11th and Washington streets. Call 256-2515.
MURPHY SINGS
AT PROGRAM
- Vocalist June Murphy will be the featured vocalist at a "Women of Influence" program, featuring worship, Bible study and dessert, at 7 p.m. Thursday at Fairlawn Heights Wesleyan Church, 5400 S.W. Huntoon.
A dramatic interpretation of the biblical character Sarah also will be featured, with a guided discussion. Call 273-4200.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE
EXAMINED
- The Faith Community Connection will have a brown-bag luncheon meeting on the topic of addressing domestic violence from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Wednesday at Prevention and Recovery Services, 2209 S.W. 29th.
Marilynn Ault, director of the Battered Women Task Force, and representatives from the Topeka Police Department will share different perspectives on the topic. Materials and brochures also will be available to those who attend.
Leaders and lay people from the faith community are invited to attend the meeting, which is sponsored by Safe Streets of Topeka. Call 266-4606.
DIVORCE CARE OFFERED
- First Assembly of God Church, 500 S.W. 27th, will offer a 13- week session of DivorceCare from 7 to 9 p.m. Fridays. Child care provided. Leaders: Ken and Beth Hedegaard. Call 234-5555.
MANNING SERVES
AS PASTOR
- The Rev. Max L. Manning of Topeka will assume duties of senior pastor at the new Family of God Church, which will have its first meeting Sunday in temporary quarters downtown at 119 S.W. 6th.
In addition to his pastoral duties, Manning will continue in his current capacity with Global Missions Inc., an overseas mission with social programs.
The Rev. Rusty Mayfield will serve as associate pastor of the Family of God Church, providing visitation and outreach ministry.
Sunday programs include: Sunday school at 9:30 a.m.; worship and children's hour at 10:30 a.m.; and evangelistic service at 7 p.m. A mid-week service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Call 232-2992.
SERIES TARGETS
RELATIONSHIPS
- A new four-program series titled "Relationship Insights for Singles and Couples" will have its first meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Covenant Baptist Church, 5440 S.W. 37th. Other sessions will be held Oct. 22, Nov. 5 and Nov. 19.
Each program will include music, drama and the video series "Loving, Lasting Relationships," by Gary Smalley and Dr. John Trent. A discussion will follow each video.
The series will help participants discover their personality "bent" and improve communication skills.
A second series of four meetings is planned for February and March. Registration is requested by calling 273-5270.
DUNKERFEST
TIME AGAIN
- The Topeka Church of the Brethren will sponsor its annual Dunkerfest beginning at 3:30 p.m. Oct. 9 at the church, 3201 N.W. Rochester Road. Activities will include the Dunker Country Store, a classic car and truck display, skit and magic show.
Also, a dinner will be served from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m., featuring meatloaf, scalloped potatoes, corn and pie. Dinner cost: $5 adults, $3 children 10 and under.
