First word
Jane WrightAs far back as I can remember, I always wanted to be a gangster." And so begins Goodfellas, one of my all-time favourite films. And despite a galaxy of stars, Ray Liotta's performance as edgy hoodlum Henry Hill shone brightest (although Jimmy Two Times was pretty hard to beat). He seemed destined for great things and then... nothing happened. Because you can't really count a Muppet movie and and a film involving an elephant called Operation Dumbo Drop.
And later, I realised to my horror that the nasty fat guy in Hannibal who dines on his own brains was none other than Ray. By which time, clearly, he was a whole lotta Liotta. Now he's back with Narc, giving a performance that will surely put his career back on track. You can read all about the man who should be king on page 22.
Elsewhere this week Peter Ross talks to elusive singer Eddi Reader who is back home after a stint in London. You can also catch her at Celtic Connections where she'll be singing her heart and soul into the words of Rabbie Burns.
Other good stuff includes fashion straight from George at Per Una and a blistering column from Sylvia Patterson on page 4. Enjoy your Sunday.
