The cynical observer might say that it's because she gets more mileage out of NOT winning than she ever would if she actually did.
Her husband, though, has a different theory.
"Maybe it's because she's a Republican," Helmut Huber told TV Guide. Whatever the reason, he added, "It is difficult for me to accept that for 15 years, someone has always been better."
This year, though, may be different. TV Guide columnist Michael Logan predicts that she'll win, "based on her bravura performance over the last few months."

Christopher Connelly and Nancy Griffin have quit Premiere magazine over allegations that publisher Ron Perelman pulled a financial piece involving Sylvester Stallone because Perelman is involved in a restaurant deal with the movie star. A Premiere spokesman denies all, saying that readers want more pro-industry stories, that "hard-hitting, journalistic pieces have hurt the magazine."
