FOOTBALL: IT'S HOORAY TO HORACIO
RICHARD GRIFFITHSHORACIO Carbonari got his first start of the season and seized on it by grabbing the winner.
The Argentinian last played for Derby in January, but John Gregory employed three defenders yesterday, bringing Carbonari in to support youngsters Chris Riggott and Danny Higginbotham.
Carbonari stole a crafty goal on the cusp of half-time.
A disputed free kick, taken by Rob Lee, floated over the Ipswich defence to the far post - where Carbonari sneaked in to poke the ball in.
Ipswich went close early on when a 35-yarder from Jim Magilton was saved by Mart Poom, who had also done well to deny Matt Holland.
The home fans were singing "There's only one Marcus Stewart" - and then Stewart's replacement at the club, young Darren Bent, missed an open goal from four yards.
Derby's 17-year-old striker Izale McLeod looked equally sheepish on his debut after ripping his shirt off and running to the visiting supporters to celebrate tapping home a Malcolm Christie cross.
He had failed to notice the offside flag.MAN OF THE MATCH HORACIO CARBONARI
