Phone repair firm makes (pounds) 3m bid for Dutch rival
Mike WoodcockTotal Repair Solutions, the mobile-phone repair company, has ramped up its European expansion plans with the proposed take-over of the Dutch business Evic in a deal worth up to (pounds) 3 million.
Chief executive Sergio Tansini said the Clydebank-based company would pursue a policy of "progressive growth" across Europe and had identified Holland, Germany, Italy and Europe as target markets.
TRS is to bid between (pounds) 1.8m and (pounds) 3.1m in a move which was announced by the Dutch business's parent, the electronics conglomerate Neway, on the Dutch stock exchange.
Tansini, who left IndigoVision suddenly in April, said he would have preferred the announcement to wait until due diligence had been completed, but added that the deal, if completed, will give TRS a 32% share of the Dutch market.
TRS employs 300 people in Clydebank facility and its 2001/2002 turnover was (pounds) 14m. It repairs more than 50,000 handsets a month for clients such as Nokia and Motorola. The deal is expected to be concluded by Christmas.
