Football: Ross on the mark
ARCHIE MACPHERSONSECOND-HALF goals from Maurice Ross and Barry Ferguson earned Rangers a 2-0 win against 10-man Livingston and made sure they remained at the top of the table.
Rangers had to survive a first-half onslaught from Livi, whose battling performance belied their lowly position.
But, once Cherif Toure-Maman had been ejected just before the hour mark for his second bookable offence, the tide turned the way of Alex McLeish's side.
For the opener, Ferguson's pass allowed Ross to gallop in beyond his marker to make his first start of the season a memorable one.
Livi made changes, including sending big Eugene Dadi on up front, in search of an equaliser but it was Rangers who finished the stronger.
That superiority was translated into a late clincher from Ferguson, who converted a penalty won by substitute Peter Lovenkrands.
Another replacement, Russell Latapy, had put him in behind the Livi back line and, with the flag staying down, Marvin Andrews' tackle upended the Dane with predictable results.
