It's fun to play at the YMCA
JOHN MANNINGTHE YMCA (Young Men's Christian Association) in Dublin was founded 154 years ago, and is the second oldest YMCA in the world.
So is it really fun to stay at the YMCA? This week, Would You Believe takes a peek inside Dublin's "Y" and finds out.
The programme focuses on Mary Seery, the Chief Executive Officer of the Dublin YMCA who found God following a meeting with an old school friend in a restaurant in Temple Bar.
What followed changed her life and caused her to abandon a lucrative career as an auctioneer in favour of a Christian vocation.
She initially worked with a church group and later with the YMCA where she found love.
She met her husband, Dave Kearney, who still works with her at the YMCA.
The rest is history in the making. Mary and Dave, together with a very committed staff in the Aungier Street YMCA, continue to drive ahead very progressive projects aimed at addressing the needs of the inner city community.
