Are Felix, Denis, and Jean Potvin related to each other? I know Denis and Jean are brothers, but is Los Angeles Kings goalie Felix related too?

Also, can you tell me if Phil Esposito, my favorite player of all time, was ever on the cover of HOCKEY DIGEST?

Denis and Jean, who were teammates on the New York Islanders from 1973-78 and 1979-81, are indeed brothers, but Felix is no relation. However, former NHL player Marc Potvin, who played for Detroit, Los Angeles, Hartford, and Boston from 1990-96, is a cousin of the Potvin brothers. Another Potvin cousin, Florent, was a scout in the WHA.

As for your other question, Phil Esposito was featured on the cover of our magazine four times: June 1973, December 1976, March 1980 (in a shot of generic NHL action), and April 1981 (being checked by Bob Gainey).
