No clue about the Blues - The Fans Speak Out - Letter to the Editor
Matt SmithIn your November 2002 issue you said in your preview of the St. Louis Blues that Keith Tkachuk was the Blues on-ice leader. This led me to question if whoever wrote that actually watched a Blues game last year. While Blues fans are commonly at each other's throat over many issues, most of them agree that Scott Mellanby is the real leader of the team. In some games he was virtually the only player to show up. Also in managing editor Alex Gordon's award predictions, he gives Evgeni Nabokov the Vezina, but then your Blues preview states that Brent Johnson isn't ready to step up to an elite level, even though they both have a very similar amount of experience. You also failed to mention that the organization has several good defensive prospects in Mike Van Ryn, Barret Jackman, and Christian Backman, and the signing of the only non-NHL guy on the Czech national team, Petr Cajanek, who may be able to fill a hole in the lineup. I'm wondering if you guys do any research when you write these previews, or if you just write off the top of your head.

In your November issue, I just wanted to point out to you that you spelled the name of the Blues' goalie wrong. His name is Brent Johnson, not Johnston.
