I'M enjoying the current Pop Idol series - the looks of disbelief on the judges' faces are priceless - but I do wonder what Simon Cowell and his team might have said to some great stars with unusual voices like Kate Bush, Ian Dury or the Gibb brothers of the Bee Gees? I suspect it would have been: "You're no pop idol - you can't sing."
