Changes for the better - The Fans Speak Out - Letter to the Editor
Tim KeenanWith the collective bargaining agreement looming next season, I think I might have some rule changes to help the game--not that it really needs it. First, I would reinstate the delayed offside rule so if the attacking player is offside, he can jump back onside and get back into the offensive zone and forecheck. Second, the icing rule must change. Once a player has cleared the blue line, he can shoot it down the ice, negating the center line. Lastly, call delay of game penalties on goalies. The rulebook states that if a goalie stops play by covering the puck outside the crease, it shall be a two minute delay of game. I think commissioner Gary Bellman should be doing all he can to save our sport.
