PLANE ADVICE FOR SVEN SQUAD
MATTHEW BELLENGLAND'S World Cup stars will be ordered to do special exercises during their flight to Japan to stop them getting deep vein thrombosis.
They will also be issued with elasticated knee-length socks to help prevent blood clots and told not to fall asleep on the plane for more than an hour at a time.
Coach Sven Goran Eriksson is so concerned about the possible health hazard to star players such as Michael Owen and David Beckham that he has asked aviation medical expert Dr David Flower for special advice.
The doctor's regime includes getting players to walk or run around the plane at 45-minute intervals, jog on the spot, and shake their legs while seated.
Players will also be kept to a strict diet in preparation for next month's tournament in Japan and South Korea. Fatty foods such as mayonnaise, pork pies, sausages and butter will be banned - and alcohol will be strictly off limits.
