Irish girl's Arab HQ hell
MICHAEL DOYLEA YOUNG Irish woman was trapped in Yassar Arafat's beseiged compound for a terrifying 24 hours, after rushing to the aid of victims inside.
Medic Caoimhe Butterly, 23, braved shells and gunfire and had little food and no drinking water during her ordeal.
The Dublin woman and three other aid workers became trapped in Arafat's HQ as it was attacked by Israeli tanks.
They were eventually allowed to leave yesterday morning after protests from the Irish embassy in Tel Aviv, but Caoimhe decided to stay to care for the injured.
Her colleague Adam Shapiro said last night: "Her spirits are fine, but it is terrifying in there and I am relieved to be out."
