GAA: Cork in control
PAUL CLARKECORK made the long haul up to Swatragh yesterday and made very light work of the home challenge in a one-sided Allianz NHL Division 1B game.
Bertie Og Murphy's men added another two points to their Allianz haul by winning 1-24 to 1-12 - and just like they did against Wexford seven days earlier, some brilliant long-range shooting from all the six forwards left the Derry defence in shreds.
And the ambitious team boss, could not have asked for a handier stroll in the park for the returning Sean Og O'hAilpin. The great defender was back in red for his first competitive game since damaging his back in a car crash last year, and there was never too much asked of him on this occasion.
At No.3, Diarmuid O'Sullivan also came through unscathed, and will be lining out at full-forward for Cork footballers against Offaly tomorrow in the NFL.
In Division 2A, Kildare and Down staged a thriller at Naas, but the northerners edged home in the end 2-13 to 1-15.
In Division 3 of the Allianz league, Longford had five points to spare over Donegal (1-12 to 0-10), while Louth cut loose against Fermanagh and won 3-14 to 0-8.
