Football: Harry a better buy by Emile

WHAT a steal Harry Kewell was for Liverpool.

All they paid to Leeds for him was just pounds 3m of the pounds 5m deal...makes Emile Heskey look expensive!

I SEE Keith Gillespie had a departing spat with Blackburn manager Graeme Souness.

The Northern Ireland international has every right to now he's at Leicester, but I know Graeme and if he doesn't like you then he'll make that very clear.

But just because he doesn't like you, he will still pick you if he feels you're right for the team.

THE Open golf championship starts on Thursday and I can't wait.

It should be a real cracker with Tiger Woods having not won a Major for a while, but my money's on that fine young Englishman Justin Rose.

A prodigious talent with a great game as well as a solid temperament, and despite missing the halfway cut in the Smurfit European Open at The K Club last week, I think he will give the likes of defending champion Ernie Els and Woods a good run for their money.

There is, however, one man who could very well upset the applecart - Darren Clarke.

The Ulsterman is hitting the ball better than anyone I've seen from tee to green, but is still struggling for consistency at crucial times with his putter.

On the final day at the European Open last week, he managed to draw level with eventual winner Phil Price, but then let himself down on the greens.

If he gets it going with the putter this week, Darren could blow away the field . . . and how I would love to see that.
