Britton sees red
Charles Wallace at Glebe ParkBrechin 1 - 1 Clyde
Hampshire 4 McHale 46
BRECHIN CITY'S new signing Gerry Britton endured an eventful debut, setting up his side's opener and being sent off after an hour.
The former Dundee assistant manager took just four minutes to make an impact, releasing Steven Hampshire to slide past Paul Jarvie in the visitors' goal.
Britton could have opened his account for his new club only a minute later, but Jarvie made a smart stop from his volley. However Clyde began to dominate and Alex Williams, Michael McGowan and Tom Brighton all troubled Craig Nelson's goal.
The flow of the game was beginning to become disrupted by a series of niggly challenges and Clyde assistant manager Joe Miller was sent to the stand for remarks to a linesman as the interval beckoned.
This seemed to spur on the visitors as they equalised just a minute into the second half when Paul McHale's speculative 25-yard strike somehow evaded Nelson's grasp.
Britton's afternoon came to an abrupt end after 61 minutes when his reckless challenge on Eddie Malone was deemed illegal, as was Neil McGregor's response, and both were ordered off. Clyde reacted better to the setback and pressed for a winner, but a combination of poor finishing and Nelson's agility kept the scores level.
