Karen Ann Gajewski* Talks last year in Mexico over a new world trade treaty fell apart over the subsidies paid by developed countries to their farmers. Now trade ministers from nineteen countries have met to find a way to return to the negotiating table. Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva believes the answer for his country may be a trade alliance with India. Brazil and India represent two of the world's largest developing countries, with a combined population of more than 1.2 billion. Growing economic relations between the two countries today have led to a fourfold increase in commerce in just the past four years.
