Acquittal and release of Dr. Younus Shaikh - Worth Noting - Brief Article
Karen Ann Gajewski* Humanists and human rights advocates worldwide celebrated the acquittal and release of Dr. Younus Shaikh on November 21, 2003. Held in solitary confinement in Rawalpindi, Pakistan, under sentence of death for blasphemy, the educator was finally retried, after appealing an earlier conviction. Representing himself at the retrial, Shaikh confined his defense to legal arguments, resulting in the judge declaring the charges against him to be baseless.
