Red and White Kitchen cooks up expansion
Wolfe, AnnaMOUNT KISCO, N.Y.-Red and White Kitchen Co., the 5-year-old kitchen textile company specializing in vintage-looking designs of the '40s and '50s, more than doubled its office and warehouse space when it relocated to a 3,100-square-foot office space here June 18.
"We keep adding new customers and new designs," said Janet Foster who cofounded the retro-inspired textile company with Carol Siegel on her kitchen table six years ago.
Red and White Kitchen didn't have to move far. They were able to lease a larger space with a loading dock in the same building as their previous offices.
"We still plan to hold meetings at our chrome and formica '50s dinette table but now we can fit all areas of our operation under one roof," said Siegel.
The extra space is needed to warehouse Red and White Kitchen's expanding product line which includes tablecloths, pillows, souvenir towels for states and floursack towels of state maps and other whimsical designs. With the additional space, Red and White Kitchen will be able to build, store and ship inventory from under one roof. New designs are forthcoming, Siegel said.
Red and White's entry into the market six years ago was well timed, Foster said, because they were "a little ahead of the retro trend."
Now the mid-20th century flair is seen across the kitchenware spectrum including counter-top appliances, glassware and serveware.
"As things get more complicated, it is nice to have these touchstones to remind us of simpler times," Foster said about the retro trend.
