Fauchon closes two NYC stores

NEW YORK-With its eye on increasing its presence in Nieman Marcus department stores, Fauchon, the French food emporium, closed two of its retail stores on Madison Avenue and Third Avenue here June 10. Its Park Avenue flagship store remains open.
"Fauchon is committed to broadening its presence in the U.S. market and we are confident that today's realignment of the Neiman Marcus stores, he added.
Fauchon offers between 800 and 1,000 SKUs and includes a diverse range of pastries, chocolates, teas, coffees, mustards, preserves and other delicacies. Only "a limited range" of 40 to 50 SKUs are showcased at Nieman Marcus. Fauchon's best sellers such as chocolates, teas, cookies in tins are represented at the department store, he said.
Nieman Marcus is an ideal partner, Dewey said. "Nieman Marcus has our customers," he said. "It is a great fit between our two brands."
Founded in 1886 at the Place de la Madeleine in Paris, Fauchon brought its experience to the U.S. market in August 2000 with the opening of its flagship store and Tea Salon on Park Avenue and 56th Street here.
"Fauchon in the United States is a small and young company," said Dewey, who joined the company in January.
