Keep routine simple: one swing and go
Justin LeonardFor too many golfers, practice swings are a security blanket, a mindless preshot exercise that wastes time and energy. The practice swing is an important rehearsal, but unless you take a divot with a driver, there's no need to make more than one practice swing. A short, straightforward preshot routine is the best preparation:
(1) Look at the shot from behind the ball for alignment.
(2) Take one practice swing, focusing on feel and a swing key.
(3) Set up over the ball and pull the trigger.
Not only will such a routine clear your mind, you'll play faster, too-a benefit for everybody on the course.
