Kids to get own shopping day at Wish Store

Some sick children in the Pikes Peak region are in for a special day this week.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado will host its fifth Colorado Springs Wish Store at 3 p.m. Monday at Memorial Hospital.

The children are asked to bring a shopping list with names of family members. Volunteers then will give the children play money so they can "buy" gifts for family members on their list.

The event is for children being treated for cancer, cardiac problems, respiratory needs or other serious pediatric illnesses. Santa and other characters will help the children shop. For more information, contact the Make-A-Wish Foundation, (303) 750-9474.
