Pikes Peak Family Connections will move to new building

A parenting program that serves families in the Pikes Peak region will move next month into a new building allowing room for expansion.

Pikes Peak Family Connections, which oversees a nurturing program and offers parenting classes for families, will leave its headquarters at 10 N. Farragut St. on Dec. 22. The nonprofit group will move its offices and programs that day into the new Hearthstone Family Nurturing Center at 2132 E. Bijou St. The new center, named for benefactors, has nearly six times as much space, and will provide room for more classrooms and a nursery.

"With our own space we can do however and whatever we want to serve our families," said the program's director, Rita Wiley.

Wiley said the new space also will allow Pikes Peak Family Connections to serve more families. The program now serves about 250 families a year. Wiley hopes to double that. The center is named in honor of Dawn and Ben Warden, owners of Hearthstone Furniture. The Wardens have donated more than $4,000 to outfit the nursery. The group still needs furniture for the rest of the new office. Call 327- 2061 for more information.
