Martha Tai Burkard Alameda, Calif.
Martha, at 12, became the youngest San Francisco City Women's Amateur champion by beating 22-year-old Eden Anderson, 2 up, in the 36-hole final. Martha, an eighth-grader this fall at Lincoln Middle School, took up golf only three years ago.
Stephen Reed Houston
After several top-five finishes in previous American Junior Golf Association events, Stephen climbed the final rung this spring in the Taylor Made-adidas Texas Junior Classic in West Columbia, Tex. Stephen, 18, shot even-par 144 for a two-shot victory and become the first African-American to win an AJGA event since Tiger Woods in 1992.
Jake Lambert Jackson, Miss.
"Coming down the stretch, I was thinking 59," said Jake, 15, after shooting a course-record 61 in the Caroline Golf Club Junior Invitational. Jake had 10 birdies, an eagle and a lone bogey on the par-72, 6,500-yard layout.
