Football: ANGRY RONNIE'S ROCKET

HOW League Champions Portadown must be sick and tired of the sight of Coleraine.

The Ports have lost only four matches this season, but three were against the Bannsiders.

And there wasn't an inkling of the Ports winning this totally one- sided match.

Manager Ronnie McFall stormed: "Our defence and midfield were a shambles, and the only two players to safeguard their reputations were Vinny Arkins and Gary Hamilton."

The Coleraine goal storm started on nine minutes, when Jody Tolam broke on the right, and delivered a great pass for Stephen Beatty to crack home from 14 yards.

Ports keeper Davy Wells was badly to blame for Coleraine's number two, when he mistimed his race out of his goal, allowing Sean Armstrong to nip in and slide the ball home.

Portadown pulled one back on 26 minutes, when Arkins rose majestically to brilliantly head home a Dean Fitzgerald cross.

But Coleraine added number three on 40 minutes. Colm Tresson misjudged a cross and in nipped Beatty to volley inside the far post.

Keeper Wells had to be substituted with Paul McAreavey who got in a tangle with John Convery, and Tolam raced in to fire home from 15 yards.

The fifth came on the 73rd minute, when McAreavey beat out a corner from the left, and Tolan nabbed his brace with a sweetly struck shot from 12 yards.
