M KellyIN PERSONAL terms, the families of the Columbia crew must be overwhelmed by shock and grief - especially since their loved ones were just minutes from a safe and triumphant landing.
As for the space programme, there will be a long delay while experts try to work out what happened on that fatal flight.
What is certain, however, is that the exploration of space will continue and that the families of those who died will be the first to approve. Too much is at stake and too many sacrifices have already been made to turn back now.
