Arcoa upgrades device for the disabled
Arcoa Industries, San Marcos, Calif., will target the nursing home and hospital markets with an advanced version of its device designed to help the disabled.
The EZ Reacher II will be sold through Arcos 700 home care dealers, who are supported by 30 manufacturer's reps, said Arthur Traber, president.
The device enables wheel chair-bound people to pick up and hold large or small objects--from a newspaper to an aspirin tablet--because of its new locking control lever. It is available in three lengths and a variety of styles for those with limited mobility and strength.
Arcoa will advertise the EZ Reacher II in Home Care magazine and Home Care Dealer. The manufacturer also will exhibit it at the National Home Health Care Exposition, Nov. 15-17, Atlanta.
Traver noted, though, that attending trade shows is not a primary marketing strategy for Arcoa.
"We're not too enamoured with trade shows," he said. "They're expensive and it's questionable if we get enough out of them."
