Edgeco promotes new wheelchair with discount
Edgeco, Little Ferry, N.J., is using a promotional price and direct mailings to sell its new folding wheelchair to hospitals, nursing homes, prisons and other institutions.
The promotion is allowing the 75- to 100-member direct sales force to sell the DART wheelchair for $199.95, a price that company vice president, Jim Esposito, says is "an extraordinary price for this use."
A general direct mailing is being sent to the the health care community to educate professionals on Edgeco's product.
Esposito declined to say whether Edgeco would be using distributors or telemarketers to sell the wheelchair, but said his company has used both methods in the past.
The DART wheelchair is constructed of a chrome plated tubular steel X-frame, 24-inch plastic mag wheels, weighs 36 pounds and comes with a full, one-year warranty. The wheelchair is collapsable and can be shipped by mail.
