LipoGen uses specialized sales force for ELISA tests

LipoGen Inc., Knoxville, Tenn., is using four sales and technical service reps to market and sell its new, patented ELISA tests to group practices and hopital, reference laboratories.

Called RheumElisa, the kits are the most specific ELISA tests available and will significantly reduce hands-on time for laboratory personnel, according to Ken Kite, LipoGen's Midwest and Canada sales and technical service representative. "The novel thing about our product is that we are the only product that has patented human recombinant antigen technology," Kite said.

Four kits containing separate antigens are being marketed by LipoGen. The kits, which are used with a microplate reader containing a 450 filter, allow complete tests to be run on 22 patients in 90 minutes, with four results each. Of that 90 minutes, only 10 are hands-on time.

The territories covered by each of LipoGen's four sales service reps are the Northeast, Southeast, Southwest, Midwest and Canada.

The reps also sell LipoGen's RheumaStrip ANA Profile test kit to doctors' offices and clinical laboratories and by July, will sell LipoGen's new double-stranded DNA ELISA kits.
