Old favourites with new friends from Ronnie Wood
TIM COOPERIntimate moment: Andrea Corr and Ronnie Wood share the spotlight THEY have sold millions of records and performed in packed stadiums across the globe, but last night Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones shared the stage with Andrea Corr of The Corrs and Slash of Guns 'n' Roses, in front of a select crowd of 400, writes Tim Cooper.
The fans had each paid 225 to see 54-year-old rocker Wood at the intimate show at the CC Club at Piccadilly Circus and were rewarded with an old-fashioned rock'n' roll set that included old favourites by the Stones and Wood's previous group, The Faces.
Gossip about an appearance by their singer, Rod Stewart, remained no more than that, despite his name appearing on the guest list; and there was no sign of any other Stones. But the audience, including a gathering of friends, were happy to see Wood make it a family affair, backed by a band including his son Jesse and daughter Leah. The event was organised by another son, Jamie.
