BOY IN A-LEVEL SUICIDE
DAVID HUDSONA TEENAGER was found hanged from a tree on the day he was due to get his A-level results.
Eighteen-year-old Darren Newby's body was discovered by a man walking his dog near a canal
It is thought Darren, of Wigan, Greater Manchester, had been worried about his grades but died without knowing his results. It is believed he got a D pass in information and communication technology, but failed two AS papers he took at the same time.
Police were alerted after he failed to turn up for work and his mother Gail found his bed had not been slept in. Yesterday she was too distraught to talk about his death.
John Crowley, principal of St John Rigby College, Orrell, where Darren was a student, described his death as a "complete tragedy".
A police spokesman said "We do not think Darren knew his results before he died as he had failed to pick them up at college."
