TEST legend Alex Murphy has called for David Waite to be sacked as Great Britain rugby league boss.

Aussie-born Waite saw the Lions crash to a record 64-10 defeat against the world champions in Sydney on Friday and Murphy blasted: "The plane should return to Britain with the players and leave Waite in Australia!"

Waite's contract expires after the autumn series with New Zealand but Murphy said: "He should do the decent thing and go now.

"An Aussie shouldn't have been appointed to coach Great Britain in the first place."
