The annual Christmas Festival Concert presented by Whitworth College will be Friday and next Saturday at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Cedar. The music will be presented by the Whitworth Choir, chamber singers, women's choir, brass ensemble, handbell choir and organ. The music will be interspersed with Scripture readings.

Tickets are $10 and may be purchased through G&B Select-A-Seat locations or by calling 325-SEAT.

Handel's Messiah on Sunday

First Presbyterian Church has been offering community performances of Handel's "Messiah" on and off since 1910. This year's performance, led by First Presbyterian's Chancel Choir and members of the Spokane Symphony, begins at 4 p.m. Sunday.

As always, members of the community are invited to lend their voices to the performances. Those wanting to join the mass choir are asked to gather at the church at 2:15 p.m. Sunday for registration and rehearsal.

Admission to the concert is free, but donations will be collected.

Call the church at 747-1058 for more information. The church is located at 318 S. Cedar.

Lawmakers invited

Legislators from Spokane's 3rd, 4th, 6th and 9th districts have been invited to attend a special breakfast at 7:30 a.m. Thursday at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist.

Topics to be addressed include economic justice, access to health care, and criminal justice.

The event is sponsored by the Spokane Council of Ecumenical Ministries.

The cost is $10, and tickets must be purchased by Monday by calling 329-1410.
