rock mariah carey glitter (virgin) H
Noor KadhimOn Glitter - the soundtrack to Mariah's cinematic debut - the peekaboo balladeer wants us to think she's gone hip hop, but it's really the same popsicle, sweetie-pie breathless scale-jumping with a twist, provided not by Carey herself but more guest vocalists than you can fill a dozen Cadillacs with. Ludacris and Da Brat jazz up Loverboy, which might otherwise be a carbon copy of Heartbreaker, while Busta Rhymes features on Last Night A DJ Saved My Life. Whitney- meets-Britney soliloquies like Lead The Way show us she can "do" soulful and Don't Stop (with Mystikal) and If We are actually rather catchy. But as a package (which it is clearly designed to be) Glitter is more irritating than titillating. But maybe for someone who has already sold tens of millions of albums worldwide, that doesn't matter.
