WEMBLEY GETS pounds 14M SUPPORT
PAUL THOMSONTHE prospect of the new Wembley stadium being given the goahead will get a pounds 14million boost today.
Mayor of London Ken Livingstone and the Gove r nment have agreed an extra pounds 7m each for the redevelopment of Wembley Park tube station.
Solving the transport problem around the stadium is crucial in persuading Barclays and HSBC banks to finance the pounds 715m deal and getting Brent Council to give planning consent.
The Government has set the FA a 30 April deadline to have all these deals agreed or face having the Wembley plan scrapped.
It is expected today that Secretary of State for Transport Stephen Byers will confirm the cash is available.
