folk rab noakes and fraser speirs lights back on (neon) HHHH
Sue WilsonBETWEEN the two of them this Scottish singer/songwriter/guitarist and his harmonica-virtuoso compatriot have put a lot of years into the music business. This seasoned eclecticism, matched by similarly well-honed and wide-ranging musicianship, combines here with the easy- going feel of two old pals getting together for a jam. The material is from across the spectrum - country, blues, soul, folk, R&B - whether incorporated into Noakes' own writing, or in a diverse selection of covers, including Victoria William's Lights and Beck's Devil's Haircut. Both halves of the duo sound splendidly in synch throughout, resulting in a unpretentious yet accomplished album.
