THE latest solo project from one of Ireland's finest younger flute- players - currently a member of Lnasa - pairs him with nine different fiddlers in 16 exquisitely-wrought duets, they feature Tommy Peoples and Frankie Gavin, mostly backed by Arty McGlynn on guitar and ex- Riverdance percussionist Jim Higgins on bodhran. The results are everything you'd expect: consummately seasoned, supple and sensitive renditions of joyously intertwined jigs and reels. Synth-sampled string arrangements occasionally lend too much of an unwelcome saccharine tinge to the music, but it's still one of the best traditional albums you'll hear this year.
