Football: GIGGS RAP AT 'COCKY' WENGER
PAUL SMITH Sports ReporterRYAN GIGGS has ignited the Premiership title race by accusing Arsene Wenger of being too cocky.
Giggs (above) admits Arsenal are favourites to win the title but he believes Wenger's claim that the Gunners will win all their remaining games is over-confidence.
Wales star Giggs says the Frenchman has simply succeeded in piling on the pressure for Arsenal, who just managed to beat Spurs 2-1 in yesterday's London derby.
Giggs questions whether the Gunners can hold their nerve and claims United, who beat Leicester 1-0 yesterday, could still clinch a record fourth successive title.
Giggs said: "There is no question that Arsenal are in the driving seat but Arsene Wenger's over-confidence could be his downfall. He's clearly become too cocky, which is dangerous.
"I see he predicts that Arsenal will win their remaining games and clinch the title before they face us. And
that even if they don't wrap up the title before coming to Old Trafford, they will win it at our place.
"I wonder what excuse he would use if it all goes horribly wrong. Arsenal have some great players and seasoned pros but they have yet to pass the test of character in the run-in."
Giggs added: "I'm sure the neu go down to the wire, but if Arsenal come to Old Trafford needing to pick up points against us Wenger's confidence will come back to haunt him.
"They won't win here. Not with 67,000 behind us. We only need a sniff of the title and if it goes down to the wire there will only be one winner."
