BRIT SPIES TELL ALL TO BERTIE
CHRIS ANDERSONBRITISH spies are due to meet an Irish Government envoy and spill the beans on SAS assassination squads working in the Republic, it was revealed yesterday.
The men had the most dangerous job in the British army - spying on the IRA from within the Provos' ranks - but say they have been abandoned since the Good Friday agreement was signed.
They will now tell Irish officials how the SAS and other British intelligence units launched scores of operations south of the border.
Most of the "invasions" were into border counties but at least two stretched as far south as West Cork and Kerry.
Taoiseach Bertie Ahern ordered the summit after the men contacted him directly about the illegal incursions.
The meeting is due within two weeks, one of the spies said.
