Coin fan arrested at match
TOM KELLYA MAN was arrested yesterday over the incident in which a coin was thrown at England and Liverpool football star Jamie Carragher nearly a month ago.
The 19-year-old was picked up by police near Arsenal's football ground in North London where the team were playing Fulham.
He was being held at Islington police station on suspicion of throwing a coin on to the pitch during the FA Cup fourth-round match between Arsenal and Liverpool on January 27.
Carragher, 24, was sent off for throwing the coin back into the crowd after someone had allegedly flung it at him.
He was later given a formal police warning after he made a public apology, describing it as a "heat-of-the-moment" incident.
"No matter what the provocation, I shouldn't have reacted like that," he said. "I should have known better and it's a mistake that I won't make again."
