Football: 'The referee must have been p***ed' WHELAN'S OUTBURST
PAUL SMITH Chief Football ReporterNOEL WHELAN is facing an FA rap after an astonishing blast at referee Andy D'Urso.
Middlesbrough striker Whelan (left) raged: "The referee must have been p***ed," after Boro went down 2-1 at Arsenal.
Boro were angry that D'Urso overlooked what appeared to be a blatant foul by Thierry Henry on Paul Ince that led to Robert Pires's equaliser.
"It's a massive mistake by the referee," added Whelan. "It looked like the game was too big for him.
"The crowd put him under a lot pressure and anyone who watches this game on TV will see what a bad decision it was. That one decision changed the course of the game."
The FA said last night they would study D'Urso's report before deciding whether or not to take action.
Arsenal are now 15-8 joint favourites for the title with Manchester United, who visit Fulham today.
