Mike StrangerHard-to-please Kelburne coach Mike Gilbert pronounced himself 'satisfied' after his side's 3-1 victory over MIM Edinburgh on a bouncy and slippery surface at Bellahouston yesterday. The Paisley side remain undefeated.
Excellent predatory goals were netted in each half by Gareth Hall, and an admirable and hard-working display by midfield playmaker Ross McPherson was rewarded when he netted the rebound at a penalty corner to give Kelburne the game 3-1.
The top-of-the-table match saw Western grafting for their 2-1 victory at Auchenhowie. Grange's international keeper Paul Mellor was in excellent form, a double save in the closing minutes keeping the margin to that single goal.
An early strike on the rebound by Barry Kane put the champions well in control of the first half, but a cross from Brendan Gairns was deflected in by Chris Webster for the equaliser just before half time. A trademark penalty corner conversion by Gordon Moore after the interval was enough to retain Western's 100% record.
Dundee Wanderers coasted to a 4-0 victory over Inverleith, while their city rivals Menzieshill beat the other league newcomers, Motherwell, by 3-2 margin after being two up at half-time.
Aberdeen Asset Management were kept to 2-0 by visitors Clydesdale, Kenny Steele and Phil Webster netting for the northerners.
Bonagrass Grove defeated Grange Edinburgh Ladies 2-0 and champions Westcoast Western put six past struggling Watsonians without reply. Edinburgh RHG won 2-0 victory at Giffnock.
