Band made for mosh pits thrives on energy
LINDA NAVARRO THE GAZETTEFABRICATE
Hear the band: 8 p.m. Sunday, Union Station, 2419 N. Union Blvd.
8 p.m. Thursday, Pink E's, Westminster, $5
9 p.m., July 23, Darkside, 2106 E. Platte Ave., $5
Personnel: Adam Lundy, vocals; Bryan Ostrow, guitar; Sean Morris, bass; Cliff Mikkelson, guitar; Jake Lundy, drums
Style: They're so METAL, they scream it. Not just METAL -- VERY METAL.
Influences: Lamb of God, At the Gates, Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Emperor, Mayhem, Cannibal Corpse, Children of Bodom, Deicide, early Metallica, Tool, Pantera ("RIP:Dime"), Opeth, Mudvayne, Recondite, Try Redemption and, yuk yuk, Aaron Carter.
What the live show is like: "INSANE! If you don't like the music, you'll like the show. Pure energetic music to mosh to, never a dull moment," Ostrow says.
Favorite clubs to play: Darkside, The Undergound, Gothic Theater, Pink E's, Union Station.
CDs: Two seven-song EPs are available at shows, and another one is being mastered.
What "making it" would look like: Ostrow pictures himself drinking Kristal in a hot tub with Oprah.
The other guys would just be happy playing music for a living.
Most rock 'n' roll moment: Buh-bye. They were shown the door at a benefit show for being "too explicit."
Band history: "Once upon a time," way back in 2003, Ostrow was in a band that just wasn't working. He jammed with Jake and Adam Lundy, and the group grew from there.
Day jobs: "Only cool 22-yearold at the dollar store?" It's Adam Lundy. That guy holding a sign outside Little Caesars Pizza? It's Ostrow. Morris can be found at Wild Wings 'n Things "with the emphasis on the things." Slacker time: Jake Lundy's "too lazy" to work and Mikkelson just never bothered getting a job.
Take on the local music scene:
"The local metal scene isn't the biggest, and more power to the bands that make it and to the ones that deserve it," Mikkelson says.
"It's about time there's some more good metal bands other than Try Redemption," Morris adds.
They would like to get more young people to the shows and "way more publicity for local music," Ostrow says. "See you in the pit."
